Kung Fu Summer Camp 2008
  • The Mountain Institute of Kung Fu and Tai Chi is proud to present our annual Kung Fu Summer Camp this August, kicking off with a dinner with the masters on Friday night, August 8th, 2008. The next morning, training begins at 8:00am!

    Both Saturday and Sunday will start off with Chi Kung for one hour. At 9:00am, the groups will divide based on the curriculum you wish to learn. Join Sifu Tom Farrar, Sifu Darrell Gooden, or Sifu Richard Mieir-King. Training will continue until noon, upon which time we will break for lunch. Training will resume from 1:30pm until 5:00pm on Saturday, and from 1:30pm until 4:00pm on Sunday (schedule subject to change).

    Accommodations are available at nearby hotels such as the Best Rest Inn as well as nearby campgrounds. Some locals may also be willing to provide rooms. CAUTION! Please dispose of food/trash properly if in the campgrounds – there are bears!

    The cost per attendee is $80 for school members and only $120 for all others.
    *(Please note that accommodations are not included in your ticket price for the camp.)

    Cost includes:
    · Training on Saturday, 8:00am – 12:00pm, 1:30pm – 5:00pm
    · Dinner, Saturday night, August 9th
    · Training on Sunday, 8:00am – 12:00pm, 1:30pm – 4:00pm
    · Certificate of Completion
    What you need to bring:
    · Sweats/uniform pants, t-shirts, comfortable work-out shoes
    · Any gear required should you choose to camp
    · Water!!!
    · A strong work ethic!!!

  • Black Belt Magazine did an article way back in the January 1984 issue concerning martial arts and television. Can you guess who was prominently featured in this article? Sifu Tom Farrar, of course! And can you believe that he was already doing this for TWO YEARS before the article? Take a trip down memory lane as Sifu Tom Farrar pioneered the use of television for the instruction and the teaching of martial arts concepts over twenty years ago.

  • This summer, the Mountain Institute of Kung Fu and Tai Chi will once again be going to Beijing, China for training and for fun! This time, though, a camera crew will be joining the school and documenting the journey. Be sure to check out the school's blog for all the updates!
